You can
start a youth team by going to “Office”, then select
“Finances” and you will see a tab called “Education”. From that tab you can set up your youth team.
You can only start a youth team between week 1-2 and 12-13 in a season.
READ THIS
It is not obvious but in the Education tab where it says
"Number of youth players" it REALLY means number of youth
players, NOT number of new youths. Hence if you want 5
youths , leave the setting at 5. You will not get any
new youths unless you increase the number or the original
youths you ordered become seniors and new youths are ordered
to replace them. If you decrease the number you
will get rid of existing youths.
The youths should arrive the
Saturday after your order is placed (if you order on a Saturday, they will
arrive the following week). You will not start paying for the youths until they
arrive.
During the weekend between
seasons no youth players will arrive – this is because the old youths are
promoted that weekend instead. Delays have been known that cause this to happen
a week late.
I ordered my youth squad. 4 youths came
last week, but none arrived this Saturday. Why?
MZ’s youth system does not work in
the same way as HT. When you place an order, you are not ordering X players per
week, but a group of X players for a season. If you only ordered 4 youths, you
will have a squad of 4 youths until you change your number of youths.
Yes they do. Youths can gain 2-5 balls a
season, depending on factors such as hidden talent, the coach and the number of
partial balls the youth already had. In training camp, it isn't
unheard of for a youth to 3 balls in a single skill!
1-16 youths
You can decrease the number of
youths you have but it is luck which of youths is discarded, hence you can’t
choose which one you get rid of. If you
set the number of youths to 0 it will close down the youth academy and you will
need to pay £15,000 to reopen it later.
My
youths have a strange value, are they really worth that
much?
When
your youth initially arrive, their value is actually in SEKs
not in your native currency. That might mean that they
look completely overvalued. During the next player
value update, normally on Mondays, this value will be
adjusted. Note however, that if you sent the player to
training camp, the value wont be updated until the Monday
after the player returns from training camp.
How good are youths?
The
quality of youths can vary a lot. Initial findings from the BYE suggest that
average youths have between 11 and 16 total balls, with a best skill of 3-4
balls. Poor youths will have less, whilst good youths will have more. Good (4+)
speed and stamina seems to be very rare.
From 311 youths, following statistics have been
gathered by MZ User : larsp :
Average number of balls: 13.4
Best youth: 23 balls.
Worst Youth: 4 balls.
The best attribute were distributed like this:
1 ball: 1.29% of the youths
2 balls: 24.12%
3 balls: 52.73%
4 balls: 19.94%
5 balls: 1.61%
6 balls: 0.32% (one single player)

[fab] This bit was written several
years ago. My impression is that youths have improved
since then or I've just stuck with it and got some success.
Youths can start as young as 15
and play as youths right up until they 18/19. A
youth cannot be sold when he is in the youth team. Youths become seniors at
the start of the season in which they become 19. Be aware of taxation
rules for youth that turn senior, see Transfer section.
During the transition between
leagues, you have a window of opportunity to adjust the size of your youth team
down. If you leave the number of youth
players at the same number as they were, then the youths that have become
senior will be replaced by more youths.
How old are the youths?
Youths will be either 15 or 16 at the start of a season
(the Saturday between leagues). They stay as youths for a full 3 seasons.
Are youths worth the money?
Different people will tell you different things. Some will
say they are a total waste, whilst others have successfully grown home team
players or made goof profits from youth teams. Most established teams run
a youth team so that is an indication that they are worth the effort.
My youths were sacked by another team. What is going on?
MZ uses a database that recycles all players, rather than
deleting them. This means that when you order your youths there is a chance you
will receive the recycled youths rather than newly generated ones. New youths
only seem to be generated once all youths in a country have been recycled.
Youths end up being recycled if they
were discarded by a team. Remember you cannot
individually sack a youth, you can only reduce the number of
players in your youth team and it is random which will of
the youths will be sacked (unless of course you reduce the
team to 0, in which case you know all will be gone).
Recycled youths have freshly created stats including age,
hence are no different to a brand new youth. |
