Self-catering Holiday Accommodation of the highest quality in an attractive Cotswold Village

Offering an apartment for 4 people, (plus cot(s) if required).
PAINSWICK :- Known as "Queen of the Cotswolds", this ancient stone village centres around the historic parish church of St. Mary's surrounded by the legendary 99 Yew, dating back to the 1600s. A picture-perfect village, of narrow winding streets and hillside vistas. The spirit of Charles I still lingers in The Old Court House where he planned battle strategies against the Parliamentarian City of Gloucester nearby. Situated on the side of a picturesque valley, walkers can follow the Painswick stream, through the sheep pastures in any direction discovering the joys of this designated and protected Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Although Painswick is a small village, it boasts superb country pubs, post office, bank, library, several shops, restaurants and a fine hotel.

The village of Painswick is a paradise for walkers and is a perfect base from which to explore the incomparable Cotswold Hills. We are also located 15 minutes from the Roman City of Gloucester with its magnificent Cathedral, 20 minutes from the Regency spa-town of Cheltenham and one hour from the Roman city of Bath. Painswick is 100 miles from Heathrow, and fast trains to London Paddington depart from Stroud, (3 miles away) and take just over 1 ¼ hours.

The Verlands :- is the home of Margaret and Edward Young. The Verlands itself was once the Vicar of Painswick's residence. The Youngs have painstakingly renovated the old gospel hall at the back of their house in the village to create a cosy comfortable 2-storey cottage. The old gospel hall was built on the grounds of the vicarage for working class villagers who were more at ease to worship here than with the gentry in the grand parish church. A second accommodation has been created by the Youngs as a twin-level apartment in a wing of their main house and has a separate private entrance.
The Accommodation: - Both units have been totally renovated and tastefully decorated in 1997 under Mr. and Mrs. Young's personal supervision. The kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms are therefore, newly equipped to the highest standards. The living and dining areas are also tastefully furnished with hand-chosen period pieces. The properties have been renovated to the English Tourist Board highly coveted "5-star" award.
